Dear Reader,

  1. When you set up your wireless internet router at home, set security that requires a password
  2. Choose a complex password for your internet connection as well as complex passwords for the websites you use
  3. If truly paranoid, unplug from the wireless router and plug the Ethernet cable directly into your computer
  4. Check security for online purchases, paypal, facebook, or other connections https://
  5. Using free wireless hotspots prevents you from protecting yourself beyond complex passwords on such websites as Facebook.   Since you can’t set a password on the wireless internet connection itself, you are much more vulnerable.   The only other thing you can do in this case is look for the security certificate of the target website: https://
  6. Make sure you are running up-to-date virus protection

Happy surfing!
